Nature Programmes for Children

aged 3-5

At Aigas we fully understand the importance of positive experiences for young children in the great outdoors. We hope to foster these in a safe and encouraging environment.
WILDLIFE GARDENING FOR LITTLE FINGERS

Come and help us in our vegetable patch, make bird boxes and feeders and take home your own mini wildflower garden. A day of hands-on making activities and games.

THE SENSES

Explore the natural world with all your senses- there is more to it than meets your eyes! Be ready to smell, touch, hear and see nature in a new way.

PLANTS AND ANIMALS

Get to know the plants and animals around Aigas and learn lots about them through games, story telling, song and role play.

SEASONAL NATURE WALK

There is so much to see at Aigas – inquisitive minds will be able to touch, pick up, watch, and explore in our woodland nature trail. This is good for children with lots of energy. Birds in spring, blooms in summer, fungi in autumn - there are changing delights throughout the year.

SCAVENGER HUNT

Little fingers will delight in being able to collect every sort of treasure Mother Nature has left out for us. Your science table will be overflowing when you get back to your classroom. Another great programme for good walkers.

A LOAD OF OLD RUBBISH

Introduce the concept of recycling through songs and games. Make a wormery to observe nature’s recyclers and take it away with you. The children will begin to look at rubbish in a new way.

MINIBEASTS

Children can get their hands really dirty digging for worms and searching under stones for insects. What will we find in trees and in pitfall traps? Use magnifying glasses to see all the body parts and learn what they are for.
