About Us

Aigas is a Highland estate that opened its doors to children from all over Britain over 25 years ago. We offer the opportunity to visit us and explore nature through fun and challenging programmes for children of all ages, abilities and interests.

All children’s programmes at Aigas are supported by Naturedays, a charitable company limited by guarantee for environmental education, Scottish Registered Charity number SCO37371.

As well as being visited by hundreds of children at our field centre, we also run some outreach projects (funded by Scottish Natural Heritage), which allows us to visit schools directly and run programmes there (it's also free!). This means we spread the joy of nature to even more schools and reach young people from all backgrounds.

We are currently in the planning stages of having a new woodland classroom facility built, which is to be designed specifically to allow more young people with disabilities and special educational needs to come and explore the field centre. It will also be a very “green” building, using locally-sourced materials wherever possible including solar water heating, ground-source heating, a small wind turbine, and a reed bed for dealing with grey waste.
